They say when you retire you should stay busy. Other than keeping up the property these are the things I am up to.

Active in North Berwick Rod and Gun Club – Created and maintain their website click here. My focus is on safety ** and action pistol—especially falling plates. This is a great activity to work on self-improvement. ** Certified NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)

York County Emergency Management Agency (YCEMA)

A credentialed volunteer member of YCEMA. YCEMA is a government agency located in Alfred, Maine. The mission of the agency is to lessen the effects of a disaster on the lives and property of residents, municipalities, and businesses of York County. For more information click here. I am part of the York County Emergency Communication Team (YCECT) within the YCEMA. This team consists of mostly amateur radio operators. YCEMA would be activated if conventional communications are disrupted. Among the activities performed was to create an operations manual for YCECT and work with the team to document the connectivity between each of the ~100 shelters and the EMA for point-to-point messages or determining what areas require relay. For more information on YCECT click here.

Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC)

I am a volunteer delegate for AMAC Action representing the first congressional district of Maine. The idea is to represent the AMAC’s values on topics to the congresswoman in my district. Unfortunately, after several attempts, there seems to be little interest by my congresswoman in the values and opinions of the ~4,700 senior citizens we represent in her district or the over 2 million members nationally. Although I participate in the meetings I will need to rethink my ability to be helpful to this area. For more information on AMAC click here. For more information on AMAC Action click here.
